Who is responsible
Coldwater Science is an independent online publication. Articles use the collective byline “Coldwater Science editorial desk.” We do not claim university affiliation, named scientific credentials or independent scientific peer review. No individual scientific reviewer is named.
Sources, drafting and review
We use AI-assisted drafting and code to prepare educational text, diagrams and data presentations. Publication responsibility remains with the site operator. For source-led revisions, claims are compared with the linked primary material and numerical results are checked against the downloaded data. A “Sources checked” date identifies that specific review; it is not an experiment date or a claim of expert peer review.
The library also contains earlier educational notes. An undated note has not necessarily received the same source review as a newly revised guide. A hypothetical example is labeled as hypothetical; it must not be mistaken for fieldwork performed by this publication.
Original analysis and dates
Our NOAA temperature case study distinguishes the October 2025 observation period, the October 2026 download and the publication/revision date. The downloadable CSV retains blank observations and quality flags. We calculate descriptive statistics without filling missing readings. Sensor metadata is a dated snapshot, not proof of historical instrument depth.
Images and historical material
Photographs carry their actual creator, source and reuse license. New explanatory diagrams are identified as illustrations. Coldwater.science previously hosted Alexander Semenov’s portfolio; our current guides are independently written material. Visitors seeking his original photographs can explore Alexander Semenov’s Flickr photography. Our use of NOAA or Smithsonian sources does not imply their endorsement.
Related websites
The operator also maintains Water Temperature Live. Where a temperature guide links to that site, the link is a related resource under common ownership, rather than an independent third-party endorsement. Scientific claims are supported by the named research sources.
Corrections and limits
Send a specific claim, page address and supporting primary source through the corrections form. Corrections are saved privately for the operator. These educational guides do not replace local access information, weather warnings or a qualified scientific identification. We describe the limits of the available observations alongside their interpretation.
